Epyx, Activision, stop the software

in the 1983, Atari XL was released, Epyx and Activision released Summer
Games and Ghostbuster.  In 1985 to 1990, Winter Games, Summer Games II,
Ghostbuster II, Championship Baseball and more were released for Apple II
and C64. Why did Epyx, Activision, other software companies stop making the
games for Atari? Poor Graphics, color or enough memory ???

The "best" Operating System?

Of all the OS’s written for the A8, which is the best XL/XE OS? (It
must recognize the parallel bus.)  And which is the best 800-type
"compatability" OS used on the XL/XE for older software? And of course
— WHY did you pick your favorites?

My favorite is the the Ultra Speed + OS from CSS.  It is "the best"
because it works so well with the Black Box and Floppy Board.  But even
without the BB, it handles UltraSpeed so transparently.  It also
provides an extremely floppy-like ramdisk if you have expanded ram.
720 sectors, single or DD.

My favorite 800-type OS is Omnimon — hands down, no contenders — love
that monitor!!!  I must admit, however, that especially using a VGA
up-converter, Omniview is very impressive.  But it’s still way behind
Omnimon, because there is so little 80-column software.

Changing the screen color/luminance on an OS?

Has anyone had any experience doing this?  I have a couple of XL/XE OS
that have pretty "ugly" viewability, and I’d like to alter the color
and luminance for better viewing.  I haven’t any success searching
through the OS code for the color register(s) or shadows.

What happened to emulators.com?

Anyone know what happened to www.emulators.com/xformer.htm  ???

This site had good info on using a Xformer Cable on a PC  if I remember
correctly.

I was doing research on something similar awhile back. Not sure if I saved
the Web info
 from this site or not.

Reason I ask about it:  This site showed you how to alter the normal Xformer
Cable to work
on a PC. It was easy to do, only a wire or two needed changed.
Anyone happen to know how to do it or have a text file on modifying it?

Hopefully, it will come back up later.

very early developement stage, but it’s a start.

Here are some links to the screenshots and the Atari executable you can

Atari 8-bit Picture and Sound Programs

Was wondering what are the best programs on the 8-bit Atari to view
pictures such as .GIF or some of the other popular formats?

Is there one that will display Atari ST 16 color pictures or better?

Also Sound and Music files,  What are the best programs to play
Sound and Music files?

Any that will play Atari ST Digitized Sound files or other Digitized Sound
formats?

I remember one that would display .GIF pictures, but it was slow and thats
been a few years ago. Hoping something better has came along.
